Driving has been an adventure so far. It started out with two things. First, we had asked for a car with an automatic transmission to not have to worry about clutching and shifting a manual transmission. Our rental group didn't have any in stock. Next was the first turn. Well, let's just say I was thinking "stay in the left lane. "
We did have a few roundabouts where we got off on the wrong exit but I've learned to get turned around or get to the next roundabout and straighten things out.
So not only do you drive on the left side of the road, you're sitting on the right side of the car. You shift with your left hand and it seems as if the accelerator is backwards. The way you look at the mirrors is completely backwards, and the turn signal is controlled by your right hand. And the roads are tight, and the cars go too fast.
Thanks to the great navigating of John, we stayed out of too much trouble. But other than the first and last turns of the day, we made it around.

Ray,
ReplyDeleteIn Belfast, go to the Merchant Hotel and ask for Gavin Carroll. He's the Project Children young man who stayed with us for a summer. Great guy.
